Paul Tindall, Project Manager from KönigOutdoor, discusses outdoor kitchens and the value they offer to developers and housebuilders.
Please introduce yourself and give us an insight into KönigOutdoor?
As the Project Manager at KönigOutdoor, I have a varied role that spans the entire client journey, from the initial consultation to the final installation. My workday is a blend of creativity, problem-solving and hands-on coordination. I work closely with clients, helping them shape their vision, navigate layout and appliance choices, and ensure everything runs smoothly right through to installation day.
At our Kettering-based workshop, we manufacture premium outdoor kitchen cabinetry that we believe sets a new benchmark in the industry. Each kitchen is fully bespoke and designed to match the aesthetics and functionality of a high-end indoor kitchen. Our designs include features such as drawers, pull-out bins and integrated appliances, all tailored to each client’s lifestyle.
Why do you believe the demand for outdoor kitchens is growing among homeowners/buyers, and how should this influence the priorities of housebuilders and developers?
I believe there has been a real shift in how people think about our homes; they’re no longer just places to live but places to live well. Especially since the pandemic, homeowners have come to appreciate the value of private outdoor space, and outdoor kitchens have become the ultimate way to turn a garden into a destination. They’re not just practical but a little bit luxurious, a lot of fun and a brilliant excuse to spend more time outside.
Also, outdoor cooking is a hot topic and many outdoor appliances can go beyond what’s possible indoors. Think wood-fired pizza ovens, rotisseries, smokers… the kind of kit that turns dinner into an experience. These kitchens bring people together over great food, fresh air and a bit of theatre. It’s not just about cooking; it’s about creating moments that feel a little bit magical.
How does incorporating a high-end outdoor kitchen add value to a new build property- both in terms of lifestyle appeal and resale potential?
With the right shelter, lighting and heating, an outdoor kitchen in the UK isn’t just for summer; it’s a year-round retreat. It instantly expands living space, adding real value to a home while giving a reason to step outside, even in February. But more than that, outdoor kitchens have become a true lifestyle statement. For new-build properties, they don’t just help sell a house, they help sell a dream. It’s not just about cooking outdoor, it’s about living outdoors and doing it in style.
KönigOutdoor kitchens are proudly made in Britain. Can you share more about what this means for the product in terms of quality control, supply chain stability, and customer trust?
One of the biggest benefits of having an outdoor kitchen made locally is total quality control. Because we build everything in-house, we’re hands-on at every stage so no guesswork and no compromises. Unlike mass-produced imports, we can guarantee that every detail meets our exacting standards. Each project is made from scratch, so whether it’s moulding a worktop perfectly around your appliances or aligning veined stone so the pattern flows seamlessly across doors and drawers, we make sure it’s spot on. We’ll even come to site to survey, ensuring a flawless fit from the start.
But it’s not just about craftsmanship, it’s about confidence. Being made in the UK means faster delivery, smoother timelines and fewer surprises for everyone involved. Builders love it, homeowners love it and we love being just around the corner if you need us. It builds trust, supports local industry and makes aftercare, like servicing or custom upgrades, simple and stress-free. In short, it’s outdoor living, made personal…
