Cyncly launches Virtual Worlds 8.7 with new Cycles rendering engine

Cyncly has released version 8.7 of its Virtual Worlds design software, bringing a host of powerful updates to improve speed, realism and workflow for bathroom designers and retailers.

Virtual Worlds is the UK’s leading CAD and VR design solution for bathroom retailers, helping them create immersive, interactive design experiences that inspire customers and drive sales.

At the forefront of the update is the new Cycles photorealistic rendering engine, delivering enhanced realism, faster performance and simplified lighting workflows for high-quality visual output.

Unlike previous rendering methods, Cycles removes the need for manually placed photographic or VR lights, instead producing accurate lighting, shadows, reflections and material effects automatically. This means bathroom designs can be rendered with lifelike clarity in less time, giving clients a true-to-life impression of how their finished space will look.

Key benefits of Cycles include:

● Real-time global lighting simulation with no need for VR or photographic lights

● Realistic shadows, reflections and surface effects

● Faster rendering, especially for frosted glass, brushed metal and high-resolution output

● Smaller video files in .mkv format with no loss of quality

● More consistent visuals across devices and projects

● Full compatibility with the Standalone Renderer (SAR)

Cycles is now the default render engine in Virtual Worlds 8.7. Designers simply open the Create Image dialogue, confirm Cycles is selected and start rendering, streamlining the process with less configuration needed.

In addition to the new rendering engine, version 8.7 introduces several other improvements designed to make everyday design work quicker and more intuitive:

● Improved Orthographic Camera Mode – snap, reference and decorate directly against walls in plan view, with scroll wheel control for adjusting view depth.

● Mouse Scroll Wheel Controls – scroll to zoom, pan the view and enjoy faster navigation across all input modes.

● Lighting Wizard Enhancements – easier access to VR scene lighting with the ability to toggle all VR lights on or off at once.

Lauren Pell, Product Manager for Virtual Worlds, comments: “With Cycles, we’re giving designers the tools to present spaces in a way that feels both realistic and achievable, while also cutting down the time and technical know-how required to produce high-quality visuals.

“Virtual Worlds 8.7 is about making everyday design faster, simpler and more effective, helping retailers inspire customers and close sales.”
