The Innovator – Caesarstone

Caesarstone

Showhome Editor, Anna Wood, catches up with Amir Reske, Managing Director, Caesarstone, to discuss innovations and developments within the sector

How do Caesarstone continue innovating new products as a company that have been about for many years?

Innovation and trendsetting is in our company DNA. Caesarstone pioneered the quartz surfaces industry nearly four decades ago and has been at the forefront of technical and aesthetic evolution ever since. We were the first brand to design Quartz worktops that moved away from vibrant colours with shimmer designs, instead creating surfaces that invoke the unique beauty of nature – from the veins of organic marble and the details in a grain of sand to the movement of fast-flowing streams and the texture of a mountain range.

Caesarstone’s designer team spend much of their time ideating on new products and working with market leaders in trend forecasting to ensure the products we bring to the market are innovative and unique. We tend to work long term, thinking about styles and movements that will be with us for decades, rather than fleeting fashions that are gone in a season. Our constantly evolving surface range spans from light to dark; shiny, smooth to tangibly textured; natural to urban; and plain to heavily veined and intricately designed.

As an innovator, what recent products have you introduced to the market that solidifies your place as a market leader?

Caesarstone has been referred to as the surfaces R&D team for the world, such is the brand’s reputation for bringing out just the right colours, just the right patterns and textures and every now and again, inventing the next big thing.

Last year saw the launch of our inaugural Porcelain Collection, making Caesarstone the first to offer both Porcelain and Quartz under one brand. Our Porcelain range added another 23 surfaces to our portfolio, ranging from industrial designs such as Beige Ciment and Concrita – which both invoke urban textures – to designs such as Sleet and Circa, which are white marble-inspired surfaces that exude a sense of luxury, with striking veins and palpable textures.

One of the main imperatives was ensuring that our Porcelain products perform as well as our Quartz range when placed into a high-traffic kitchen environment, whether that be commercial or residential. As such, we performed rigorous testing prior to release and were extremely pleased with the results.

Incredibly impenetrable, dense, and resilient, the worktops are heat resistant, and both stain and scratch resistant. To reassure customers of this resilience and longevity, our surfaces are guaranteed with a Lifetime Warranty when used in residential applications – cementing them as an unparalleled one-off investment in style, substance, and quality.

Why is it important for customers to pick out durable, long-lasting surfaces?

The worktop is one of the hardest working elements of a kitchen, and it is subject to daily heavy use. The technical quality of the surface is of paramount importance if you want something to last in what is a high traffic area. Equally, it is an aesthetically important part of any kitchen. It is immediately visible, it makes up a large part of the kitchen’s surface area, and it takes the brunt of all cooking and entertaining activity. If your worktop is stained or looks tired, it can date an entire design, becoming a permanent source of frustration. Caesarstone surfaces are non-porous, which means they require very little upkeep on the customer’s end to keep them looking pristine. We craft every surface with longevity in mind, ensuring your worktop will look beautiful for many decades to come.

Why is sustainability and using sustainable materials of such importance right now, and why is it imperative that companies ensure they have sustainable certifications?

Sustainability is no longer simply a buzzword. It’s a…
