Final new homes for sale in development that has helped change face of Fleetwood

A landmark housing development in the seaside town of Fleetwood is coming to a close.

Almost seven years since its launch, Redrow’s Harbour Village is over 90% sold, with only 22 Redrow homes remaining.

Redrow’s share of the development, off Amounderness Way, comprises 251 homes in total, of which 211 have legally completed, 16 are under contract and two have recently been reserved.

The remaining 22 properties include the current release of one and two-bedroom apartments and some four-bedroom town houses with first-floor balconies providing views of the neighbouring marina.

The Harbour Village development has completely transformed a redundant brownfield site previously owned by Associated British Ports (ABP), including a £5 million remediation programme at the outset which involved using reclaimed sand from the sea to raise site levels.

Redrow has also been responsible for providing a  new swing bridge across the Wyre Marina, providing pedestrian and cycle access from the town centre and Freeport outlet shopping village to the housing development and through to Fleetwood Marsh Nature Reserve, Jameson Road and the Wyre Estuary Coastal Path.

All this, despite a set-back in the early days when building work stalled during the 2008/9 recession years, but was helped back on track with Kickstart funding from the Homes & Communities Agency for the first phase.

And, since the development launched in 2010, a new pub has opened at the entrance to the development, The Three Lights.

Claire Jarvis, sales director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), said: “We’ve been proud to play a major role in regenerating this part of Fleetwood, not just building houses but genuinely helping to improve the area and contributing to the wider community.

“This whole area of the town has been given a significant uplift by our new homes.”

Redrow’s development has included a mixture of its Arts & Crafts inspired Heritage Collection homes and contemporary looking villas with large expanses of glass and external balconies to take advantage of the estuary views.

“It’s a great location, right at the tip of the Fylde peninsular, and offers some of the UK’s most affordable seaside living,” Claire adds.

“In the time that we’ve been building we’ve seen Fleetwood’s fortunes change, including £1.5 million awarded from the Big Lottery’s Coastal Communities Fund in 2014 to regenerate the town’s seafront. Many of those projects are now completed or nearing completion and attention has turned to improving the town centre.  All of this is good news for Fleetwood and good news for our home owners.”

Redrow’s remaining homes are currently priced from £89,995 for a one-bedroom Hayeswater apartment, up to £221,995 for a four-bedroom Kensington end townhouse. The Government backed Help to Buy incentive can reduce the initial outlay with a 20% equity loan, interest free for five years, which means customer should only need a 5% deposit.
