Housing association in Scotland told to carry out investigation due to serious misconduct allegations

UK

Following concerns being raised over a potential conflict of interest involving a high up member of staff at Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership (DGHP), an investigation has been launched to look into several allegations revolving around land deals.

As a result of the claims of serious misconduct, DGHP have been ordered to carry out an internal probe.

However, the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) is unsatisfied, and has ordered a second inquiry into proceedings after coming to the conclusion that they needed more information and assurances from DGHP.

The SHR has also confirmed that they’ve been dealing extensively with DGHP because of the allegations, which were made back in May. The allegations in question focussed on a senior member of staff, who has since departed.

A spokesman for the housing regulator was on hand for comment, and detailed the tasks they gave the DGHP.

“Following DGHP’s initial investigation, we decided we required more information and assurance,” the spokesman said.

“We have now required DGHP to commission a further independent investigation into its contracts as well as the effectiveness of its internal controls and management systems.

“Once we review this, we will consider whether any further action is necessary.”

In response, a DGHP spokesman confirmed more work is required.

“Our initial investigation has been concluded and this is now being followed up with some additional work which will serve to provide both organisations with additional assurance,” the DGHP spokesman stated.
