Bracknell roofing supports Kier group and Lovell on decent homes scheme

National roofing contractor, Bracknell Roofing, is helping to transform over 150 properties in Leicestershire as part of a major refurbishment project taking place under the ‘Decent Homes’ scheme.

Under the direction of North West Leicestershire District Council, and working with main contractors Kier Group and Lovell, Bracknell’s specialist expertise, roofing skills and proven project management, are now bringing a number of much-needed social housing properties built from the 1920s to the 1950s up to the standard expected for modern living.

Ian Bladon, Contracts Manager at Bracknell Roofing, comments: “This is an important social housing project, and the roofs play a crucial role in ensuring the properties meet the standards required.  It is essential that local authority stock continues to be revitalised, and the ongoing refurbishment taking place under the Decent Homes scheme means a large number of homes will be significantly improved for the benefit of residents.”

Bracknell Roofing is undertaking the work over a six month period, with the final property due for completion in early 2017.  Work has included total re-roofing on each property, which has seen new tiles, guttering, downpipes, fascias and soffits installed.  Bracknell is also providing skilled tradespeople to undertake essential chimney brickwork repairs to over 60 properties as part of the scheme.

Ian Bladon concludes: “Improvement schemes of this nature bring with them challenges such as ensuring the safety of the public in and around the works, and making sure the impact on the surrounding community is minimised.  Our project management skills have ensured the schedule has been maintained at all times and that we play our part in keeping the scheme to time and budget.”
