Bovis Homes hands over final set of keys at Bristol development

The last house buyers have been handed the keys to their new property at Bovis Homes’ long-standing Charlton Hayes location in Filton, which has brought more than 2,000 new homes to Bristol.

Housebuilder colleagues held an event on site to mark the occasion, which saw the end of over a decade of construction work on the new homes.

The team got together to celebrate the milestone and gifted Demitri Peynado, Charlton Hayes’ final customer, with a luxury hamper and flowers.

Since construction started over a decade ago, a total of 2,200 properties have been built under the Bovis Homes brand at Charlton Hayes, located off Mansell Road.

The development comprises 1,641 private homes and 559 affordable properties, along with areas of green open space.

As part of the planning agreement, Vistry Cotswolds – which comprises brands Bovis Homes and Linden Homes – has invested more than £18 million, including for off-site public open space, highways, public transport, library services, a new on-site primary school, and an off-site community building.

The housebuilder is also providing numerous play areas throughout the scheme, a trim trail and teen shelter, cycle route, boules court, a footbridge over Hayes Way and a local centre, which includes a Sainsbury’s and a nursery.

Dave Farley, now departing regional managing director of Vistry Western, said: “I was one of the first people to arrive at Charlton Hayes in May 2008, stationed in a portacabin outside the site’s entrance, so it was a truly special moment to hand over the keys to our final customer.

“It was great to come together with the team who’ve been at the development since day one to mark this milestone, and good to reminisce over what we have achieved during the last decade or more.

“As well as delivering over 2,000 much-needed homes, Charlton Hayes has brought a wonderful new community to this part of Bristol. We wish Demitri all the best in his new home, along with all of our other residents.”

Vistry Cotswolds is currently building new Bovis Homes and Linden Homes properties at various developments across Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.
