Rotpunkt invest 50M to create more options for customers

Rotpunkt, award-winning designer and leading manufacturer of climate friendly German Kitchen furniture invest in the future with the construction of a brand-new Warehousing & Logistics building at the company’s headquarters in Bünde, North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany.

With an investment of double-digit million euros, the latest developments are due for completion by the end of summer 2025, creating extra space for additional machines currently housed in the existing facility to enhance operational efficiency. With dimensions of 250m long, 15m high and 40m wide, the brand-new warehouse covers an area of 10,000 square metres and is a core part of the company’s 50-million-euro growth package.

Key aims for the new hall focus on delivering greater individuality for the end user by increasing product variety and offering more options to customers. This, combined with a high degree of automation will ensure a more flexible approach to manufacturing and increase the company’s production capacity. Helping to create new job opportunities within the local community, the new high-volume production facilities will increase operations, drive innovation and enhance Rotpunkt’s precision, speed, and reliability.

Presenting the opportunity to achieve lights-out production, once the design parameters have been set by a Rotpunkt technician, the new integrated system carries out the instructions independently without supervision. Matt Phillips, Head of UK Operations, Rotpunkt says, “We are very proud to be investing in the future by constructing a new warehouse to further automate production so we can provide unlimited brand variety and exclusive design opportunities for our customers. As Great Britain is one of the largest markets in Europe, the UK holds significant importance to Rotpunkt as the number of retailers working with our diverse, high quality, and sustainable design portfolio continues to grow.”

Rotpunkt’s 50-million-euro growth package is wide-ranging and includes the following technology upgrades and targeted sustainability measures:
• Digitalisation of production and corporate processes – to futureproof production and remain competitive to be more efficient, reduce expenditure, and reach new customers and markets
• New machinery to optimise production – significantly reducing the amount of waste materials
• Climate friendly & energy efficient production of all its furniture – using BioBoard Gen2 to reduce the use of virgin wood in the supply chain to avoid-reduce-compensate emissions
• Intelligent lighting solutions – motion sensor, eliminating the need for manual adjustment to reduce energy consumption and enhancing safety
• Photovoltaic system – to harness solar power and generate clean, green renewable energy and further reduce operating costs
• High energy class building construction – to reduce energy consumption, operational costs and minimise environmental impact by lowering CO2 emissions
• Installation of hot-water buffer – more efficient heating by operating at a constant output
• Migration to green energy only from approved suppliers – to help fight climate change and reach net zero by 2050
• Social and wellness support for employees – with the option to use the latest mechanic exoskeletons to reduce the physical strain of performing heavy repetitive or overhead tasks
• Logistics services – to streamline operations, enhance safety, and improve customer service

Sven Herden, Managing Director of Marketing & Sales at Rotpunkt Küchen says, “By paying close attention to sustainable forestry, respect for human rights and fair working conditions, our efforts will have a compound effect on our company’s future. This entire development project is testament to the ongoing commitment from Rotpunkt, to make both our company and products more sustainable and climate friendly, as we look ahead to our centenary in 2030.”
