Local MP opens Oregon’s new factory

Michael Moore opened the new factory in Selkirk

On 15 November 2013, Mr. Michael Moore, MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, declared Oregon Timber Frame’s new 18, 000 square foot factory in Selkirk officially open.

Mr. Moore, who had toured the factory with Oregon’s Chairman Mr. Rod Lawson, said: “I have great pleasure in declaring this excellent new facility open. This represents a significant investment on Oregon’s part and I commend the company for continuing to build its business in the Scottish Borders. I wish Oregon every success with their plans to expand their market share in the English housing market”.

Mr. Lawson said: “We are delighted that Mr. Moore could join us today, to officially open our new factory. This expansion marks an important step in Oregon’s development as a company, and we have worked hard to weather the downturn in new build housing and to be ready to respond to recovery. The new facility is a vital part of our plans and together with our Burton factory it represents a 50% increase in our manufacturing potential. This also heralds the prospect of more jobs locally, as we grow our customer base in England.”
