Is it time for new homes to embrace their dark side?
While white can often appear to be the obvious choice for room division in many UK homes up and down the country, Vicaima, one of the industry’s leading trend setters, when it comes to interior timber doors, are noticing a burgeoning growth in the attraction for a much darker shade of pale. Indeed, the darker the better when it comes to doors, seems to be the order of the day.
Why the sudden interest in this opposite end of the spectrum?
The darker trend is not so much sudden, as part of an inevitable evolution. After all, the popularity of off-white or light grey doors has been apparent for almost a decade in the UK. Now we are simply witnessing the desire to be bolder and more eye-catching, especially in modern homes, with fewer dividing walls, where the need to create focal points between spaces being hugely significant. Another factor, again driven by the changing winds of fashion, is the popularity for home interiors which have a more minimalist or industrial looking living space, rather than the somewhat furniture filled rooms of yesteryear. All of these subtle changes present the perfect canvas onto which a statement door with dark tones can really make its mark, especially in an area where neutral walls prevail.
Which doors from Vicaima, stand out in these situations?
Of course, the Vicaima portfolio of darker door options is very extensive, but if pressed to select a notable few they would have to include Nightfall Black, part of the Naturdor® veneered and stained range, with its luxury appearance making a real statement; the textured Dekordor® 3D in either Carbon Black or Grey Oak adds tactile appeal; and when it needs to be tough, the attractive laminates from Dekordor® HD in Shadow Grey or Twilight Blue are a great choice. Lastly, the all new Iron Grey factory paint finish available within the affordable MD50 and MD55 Embossed Collection is a must for larger projects.
They may well look good now but what about the future?
Supplying doors as we do, across multiple applications from hotels to health centres and from schools to student accommodation, gives us the perfect insight when it comes to products for residential living of every type. Blending fashionable aesthetic, with outstanding quality and performance, enables Vicaima to ensure doors will retain both their practicality and design appeal for years to come.
