Marmox discusses their innovative waterproofing wetroom solutions for the modern-day housebuilder
Marmox UK Ltd is a company that has grown up with the wetroom and groomed its product base to fit the waterproofing needs in the most modern of bathroom concepts. In particular, Marmox Multiboard was developed to provide lightweight insulation in a variety of thicknesses and conformations that can clad walls, floors, ceilings and shower units in addition to creating vanity units, bath surrounds and even shelving. Multiboards flexibility in use allows architects enormous variety in the design of modern shower and bath areas by using Multiboard as an ideal base for tiles or plaster.
Multiboard is made from extruded polystyrene with each face coated in a close woven fibreglass mesh, embedded in a cement polymer mortar, giving the advantage of being completely impervious to water. Multiboard has high thermal insulation properties, is simple to fix to any suitable surface, whether brick, wood or metal and has the strength to hold tiles up to 100kg per square metre. They are available in thicknesses from 4mm to 60mm and sheet sizes are 600mm x 1250mm.
Design possibilities are enhanced by Curved Multiboards, which have pre-made horizontal lines, allowing them to bend to any appropriate curve. There is Marmox Pipe Boxing, which is available in four different sizes and simply bends and sticks at a 90 degree angle to easily box in pipe work.
Further Multiboard products include pre-sloped Showerlay floor formers, pre-formed niches, wetroom benches, shelves and various fixings and waterproofing joint tapes in order to use Multiboards for constructions purposes.
