One of the largest privately owned manufacturers in the UK, Moores have been supplying beautifully crafted British kitchens since the business first opened its doors in 1947.
Pioneered by George Moores who started the business from humble roots in West Yorkshire. Moores have grown to become one of the UK’s most experienced and recognised kitchen manufacturers, employing over 500 people at their 600,000 sq/ft Wetherby site. The company manufactures an impressive 450,000 cabinets per year, which are handcrafted in Yorkshire from FSC certified sustainable wood.
Praised for their quality craftsmanship and trend-led designs, Moores supply kitchens to the housebuilder, public sector, trade, and retail sectors, collaborating closely with their customers to deliver kitchen solutions for every home. Through constant innovation and product design, they also hold an array of prestigious industry awards and delivered a highly successful collaboration with celebrity Michelin Starred Chef, Michel Roux Jr, to design and create the renowned Roux Kitchens collection.
Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of Moores vision. Over the last 8 years they have been implementing their robust Sustainability Strategy that is set to see their operations become Carbon Neutral by 2025. Since 2014, Moores have removed 57% of their Scope 1, 2 & 3 (direct & indirect) carbon impact, resulting in a total reduction of 16,367 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide equivalent (tCO2e). This is the equivalent of planting 98,200 trees. As part of their environmental roadmap, Moores have actioned initiatives such as replacing 2000 lights throughout their factory & offices with smart LED fittings, introducing 18 plug-in hybrid cars which equates to 25% of their fleet with the target of 100% by 2030, and a recent collaboration with the Supply Chain Sustainability School saw them remove 20 tonnes of single use polyethene from their production lines. Their greatest achievement to date is their brand-new biomass boiler. Despite the pandemic resulting in financial caution for a lot of businesses, Moores viewed this as an opportunity to further accelerate their environmental roadmap & in 2020 they made a huge £2m investment in a new biomass boiler. Wood waste from the kitchen production lines gets used as biomass fuel to provide heat for the 600,000sq/ft site & this also contributes to their achievement of zero waste to landfill since 2011.

Moores work in collaboration with housebuilders and developers to design kitchens with homeowners in mind. Post pandemic, the lifestyle trend for multi-functional living has soared and kitchens have needed to work harder than ever before. Today’s kitchen space is continuously adapting to meet the needs of ever-changing lifestyles, with open-plan living, effective storage solutions, and multipurpose spaces a top priority for new homeowners.
Breakfast bars and island units that double as desks are in high demand for those that benefit from hybrid working, while built-in kitchen seating areas create a comfortable space for relaxing and entertaining. Clever space-saving solutions such as tall wall units keep office and kitchen items separate, and integrated technology such as Wi-Fi enabled appliances and useful pop-up sockets are also highly sought after by those who wish to create a modern, functional living space.
