Bellway has unveiled two brand-new showhomes at a development on the former RAF Cardington site in Bedfordshire.
The housebuilder opened the doors to a four-bedroom Scrivener and three-bedroom Quilter at New Cardington Fields, off Megginson Way, on Friday 15 April.
The development is part of a dual-branded site where Bellway and Ashberry Homes, which are both part of the Bellway group, are building a total of 592 new homes. Ashberry Homes is delivering its share of the new homes at a site called New Cardington Gate.
At the dual development there will be a collection of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses, with 60 of the homes provided as affordable housing for local people, available through rent or shared ownership.
Paul Smits, Managing Director of Bellway Northern Home Counties, cut the ribbon as the showhome at New Cardington Fields was officially declared open for viewing.
Paul said: “I felt an immense sense of pride to be able to open the new showhome at Bellway’s latest development on this historic site and it was good to welcome so many visitors who had come along on the day. New Cardington Fields has proved to be a real success already with 17 new homes being purchased off plan since the development launched in January, and a further 20 sold at New Cardington Gate.
“We are building a range of properties at New Cardington Fields and the Scrivener and Quilter types are a perfect example of the quality and high specification that are hallmarks of a Bellway home. Both are part of our Artisan Collection, a range of homes which has been developed after decades of customer feedback and combines modern construction techniques with traditional craftsmanship.”
Ashberry Homes is due to open a new showhome at New Cardington Gate on Saturday 30 April.
The dual development will feature public open space, to include play areas for children, a multi-use games area and parkland.
Paul said: “We have previously delivered hundreds of much-needed new homes within the wider neighbourhood and New Cardington Fields represents the latest chapter in our ongoing commitment to help create a bright future for this area.
“People locally have a huge affection for the famous Cardington airship sheds which are Grade II listed buildings and still stand tall and proud. This development sits next to these much-loved landmarks and we are acutely aware of the responsibility to deliver a development which respects the heritage of the site.”
There is currently a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes available to reserve, with prices starting at £250,000.
