Buckland, the Master Developer behind Welborne Garden Village, has appointed George Long as Sales Director to support the delivery of one of the UK’s most ambitious new garden villages: a model of sustainable housebuilding – creating economic, environmental and social value which will last for generations.
Welborne, located north of Fareham between the South Downs and the historic Hampshire coastline, is designed to accommodate 6,000 homes for 15,000 residents. It is being delivered holistically by Buckland, a long-term investor and local landowner, with a vision to create a place where people will still want to live 100 years from now.
From phase one, Welborne offers energy-efficient homes using state-of-the-art technology, extensive green space with over 50% of the land publicly accessible, and a vibrant village centre, all guided by a single Design Code to ensure architectural cohesion and character. George Long brings over 15 years of senior experience in residential development, having held leadership roles at Charters Estate Agents and Savills. His expertise spans strategic land promotion, high-value land transactions, and residential-led mixed-use schemes. At Buckland, George will play a pivotal role in shaping Welborne’s sales strategy and supporting delivery through the bespoke joint venture arrangement with housebuilder partners CG Fry & Son, Pye Homes, and Thakeham.
John Beresford, Managing Director at Buckland, commented:
“George understands that we’re not just selling homes at Welborne. We’re selling a philosophy built around the place we’re building. He will bring a huge amount of energy to our team and help us create a wonderful customer journey.”
George Long, Sales Director at Buckland, added:
“Leaving Charters after seven years wasn’t an easy decision, but the chance to join Buckland and be part of Welborne Garden Village was one I couldn’t pass up. It’s rare to have the opportunity to help shape a new community, and I’m genuinely excited to play a part in turning the vision for Welborne into reality. For me, it’s about more than sales — it’s about creating a place where people will want to build their lives.”
Buckland Group is building better, building beautiful with the needs and aspirations of residents and the wider Hampshire community as the driving force, now and in the years to come.
