The Wraptite®, Wraptherm®, and Reflectatherm® systems from A. Proctor Group have been selected for a self-build property on Scotland’s west coast to provide optimal thermal performance and protection. Located in Craobh Haven, a scenic village in Argyll and Bute known for its unique blend of Atlantic Rainforest and expansive sea views, the property is being developed by Phil and Lynn Dickinson with designs by Allan Corfield Architects. Rochead Irvine Construction serves as the main contractor.
This project emphasises a Fabric First approach with SIPS construction, focusing on breathability and robust protection against the harsh Argyll coastal environment. The design aims for superior insulation and efficient thermal airtightness. Wraptite, the project’s external air barrier, offers a unique self-adhering and vapour-permeable solution, distinguishing it from traditional breather membranes. Certified by the BBA, Wraptite combines vapour permeability and airtightness, enhancing water resistance and installation simplicity, which accelerates the internal fit-out process.
Additionally, Wraptherm contributes to the building’s thermal regulation. It is a self-adhesive membrane that incorporates a 10mm Spacetherm aerogel insulation blanket, further optimising the structure’s airtightness. Reflectatherm Plus complements the system as a high-resistance, reflective vapour barrier installed in internal walls, ceilings, and floors. It significantly minimises condensation risk by providing superior moisture resistance and thermal performance, preventing interstitial condensation.
Throughout the project, the Dickinsons received continuous support from the A. Proctor Group’s technical team, ensuring expert guidance from design to on-site execution. This comprehensive system not only secures the building against environmental factors but also expedites construction phases, offering a durable and energy-efficient solution for challenging coastal environments.
