Charles Taylor, Director at Composite Prime, discusses the various garden decking materials that change the landscape of the home.

As discussed in the previous edition of Showhome magazine, the garden is now slowly becoming a major component of the home. It has been truly fascinating to witness how the outdoor space has become slowly amalgamated into the interior design world. The pandemic played a major part in changing this space, as more homeowners had to turn their indoor space into a creative outlet that allows them to relax and get closer to their family. Because the idea of the garden space has changed, this has meant that various aspects of the garden’s image are beginning to change. One of these major developments has been occurring around garden decking.

Garden decking is simply boards that are fixed to the ground in a garden or other outdoor area for people to walk on. This decking is paramount in creating different tones and perception of a garden space, as well as having preictal purpose. These include using new materials that promote sustainability or using a material that is long lasting. That being established, this interesting feature has been provided by Charles Taylor, Director at Composite Prime. Hear Charles Taylor discuss the various decking materials hitting the market and how this is in turn changing he landscape and perception of the home.

From Charles Taylor, Director at Composite Prime

As summer gets into full swing, many homeowners are now looking to make the most of their outdoor spaces. Outdoor living is a key trend for 2022 and is all about creating a flow from the inside, out. As the name suggests, the trend is about bringing indoor comforts outside and treating the garden as an extension of the home.

In fact, research has shown that the inside-outside trend has featured in 11% of the top images under the #gardeninspiration hashtag in the last 12 months. To achieve this look, Ash, a Product Designer from Derbyshire and his partner, Tom converted their patchy new build garden into a cosy outdoor lounge space, complete with a projector screen set, a luxury, weather resistant pergola and sustainable, slip-resistant composite decking. The area also features a minimalist charcoal floor lamp and a stunning fire pit, which brings the ‘lounge vibe’ to life.
