300 new homes help cement regeneration plans

Mill O Mains

A major development of 300 new homes in Dundee is now nearing completion, as the fourth and final phase gets underway.

The project in Mill ‘O’ Mains is part of the Dundee City Council’s ongoing regeneration plans to replace outdated properties.

With the number of available social houses continuing to decline, the redevelopment has been crucial to the area and more than £27m has already been invested into the scheme, since it began in 2012.

Russel Roof Tiles, which has a local factory in Lockerbie, will provide the high-quality efficient homes in Mills ‘O’ Main with thinner leading edge interlocking concrete tiles from the company’s natural range.

The firm was specially chosen to provide terracotta and slate grey Galloway tiles for the project due to the high quality and appearance of its products. The range replicates the look of natural clay and slate tile variants but is manufactured using high tech techniques. This ensures consistency and longevity, minimising the life time costs of the roof once installed.

Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles said: “We are delighted to be a part of such a significant project that will bring 300 much-needed houses to Dundee. Our involvement is a true testament to the high quality and value of the product.”

Russell Roof Tiles is a leading independent roof tile manufacturer providing products for leading UK house builders and high-profile social housing and commercial projects, where sustainability and eco-credentials are of the utmost priority.
