Caesarstone takes centre stage for George Clarke’s Old House, New Home Channel 4 makeover program

Caesarstone

Caesarstone quartz worktops in the colour 6600 Nougat play a pivotal role in the modernisation of an out-dated townhouse in Broadstairs, Kent.

The episode, hosted by celebrity architect and property transformation expert, George Clarke, aired on Thursday 9thAugust to a viewing audience of over 1.5 million viewers.

During the episode, ambitious new owners Mark and Natalie take on the challenge of converting what was once a grand period property – but in recent times an unused and neglected care facility with unusual 20th century modifications – into a modern family household.

The open plan kitchen, dining and living room sit at the heart of the home and so Mark and Natalie wanted to create a space that would withstand the happy chaos a busy family creates.

The terrazzo-inspired Caesarstone surfaces reflect the modern vs. old fusion décor present throughout the property in the form of textured wallpaper, skylights and even a music room.

The light worktops, fabricated by Sussex Stone and Ceramics Ltd., stand in good company with soft-grey shaker cabinetry by Howdens and a traditional range cooker befitting to its 19th century surroundings.

Jon Stanley, Caesarstone UK’s VP Marketing, said: “The old school glamour of terrazzo is experiencing a revival in the UK. Caesarstone Nougat is a modern take on the characteristic ‘fleck’ of terrazzo, combining coarse grains and chunky quartz chips on a light background.

Mark and Natalie’s kitchen transformation is proof that it is a transitional look; sympathetic to both period homes and modern-day projects. We are delighted that the family love their new worktops and we know they will serve the house for many decades tocome.”

The evolution of terrazzo

No longer just synonymous with the riviera; terrazzo, amongst other natural stone finishes, is experiencing a residential renaissance.

Just like marble, terrazzo is revived because of its scattered decorative aspects. As a pioneer of premium quartz surfaces for the home, Caesarstone offers stunning modern terrazzo finishes within its collection of 48 different surface colours.

6600 Nougat – which was chosen by the homeowners together with the programme’s interior designers and the recently launched 4601 Frozen Terra provide a fresh, modern, industrial-inspired interpretation which features sparsely distributed, irregular translucent aggregate and fine black basalt.

Like all Caesarstone surfaces, they are extremely heat, cold, stain and scratch resistant and do not require sealing or waxing.
