Haddonstone supports local talent with RHS Chatsworth Flower Show sponsorship

Haddonstone, the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-quality cast stone garden designs and architectural stonework, will be supporting local landscaping talent for the first time at this year’s prestigious RHS Chatsworth Flower Show. The company will be sponsoring Joanna Brinkman, of Pots of Style and William Scholey of Scholey Garden Design to compete in the Long Border competition.  The gardening duo beat a record number of applicants and will be one of 15 designers showcasing their unique border garden at this year’s show.   Joanna and William live in the same Northamptonshire village as Haddonstone’s Head Office.

Joanna and William’s truly impressive design is called: The Haddonstone Garden: A Sense of Heritage.  Long Borders provide the opportunity for plant enthusiasts of all backgrounds including students, garden designers, community groups and other talented individuals to experience the design, planning and build of a horticultural exhibit within a show environment.

Joanna and William were tasked with showcasing their interpretation of the theme of five senses.  Taking inspiration from Chatsworth’s history, they have created a colourful and fragrant border designed to encourage the gentle hum of bees and insects, providing stimulation for our eyes and ears.  Several of Haddonstone’s beautifully designed pieces will complement and add a tactile element to the border, including a bust of Capability Brown, who famously redesigned the landscape at Chatsworth in the 1700s.  Haddonstone’s pineapple obelisks, reflecting head gardener Joseph Paxton’s successful pineapple-growing ventures at Chatsworth in the 1800s will also feature.

David Barrow, Managing Director of Haddonstone says: “Haddonstone is a family-owned business that has grown from a small Northamptonshire company to an internationally-recognised market leader.  However, it’s very important that we stay true to our heritage and support local talent in our community in Northamptonshire.  Our sponsorship of Joanna and William’s long border is a great way for us to support aspiring landscape designers and showcase our designs at this exclusive RHS event”.

Joanna Brinkman, Pots of Style says: “We couldn’t be more delighted to be at Chatsworth exhibiting a border that we love.  Gaining support from Haddonstone has been fantastic and we are very excited to be showcasing the best of British statuary in the RHS Long Border Competition”.

William Scholey, Scholey Garden Design says: “To have support from Haddonstone on the Long Border Competition makes exhibiting at RHS Chatsworth feel all the more special.  Haddonstone is a company that is very familar to me having grown up in the same village and walked past it every day on my way to school as a youngster”.

The RHS Chatsworth Flower Show will take place at Chatsworth in Derbyshire from Wednesday 5th June – Sunday 9th June 2019.  The show promises visitors a mix of gardening inspiration, have-a-go workshops and unique shopping within a magnificent setting.
