With a new build property, it’s not uncommon to have a garage with Up and Over garage doors with canopy gearing. Up until very recently canopy gearing has not always been the most conducive to electric automation, so you couldn’t easily fit an electric operator to your garage door to open it by pressing a button.
In July 2018, Garador launched a new operator especially design for their range of canopy garage doors, called the GaraMatic Canopy Operator. This new operator provided a functional and very streamlined way of automating a canopy garage door, with no loss of opening height.
Not sure what a canopy garage door is? Here’s a quick run down…
Garador offer a range of types of garage door, one of which is an Up & Over garage door. Up & Over garage doors are supplied with one of three types of lifting gear: Canopy, Retractable or Retractable Plus. Up & Over garage doors with canopy gearing feature a torsion spring at the top of the door and they are composed of one single panel that protrudes approximately 1/3 when open. They also have an anti-drop safety system built-in and don’t have any tracks running back into the garage.

This new operator is designed to retrofit to existing Garador canopy garage doors. It is supplied with an activating arm, which sits behind the very top edge of the garage door, so there is no loss of opening height. The product has also been designed to open when manual mode. The GaraMatic Canopy operator is a revolutionary new product which will be of real benefit to homeowners who would like to automate their garage door or perhaps arent even aware that they can automate their canopy garage door.
