Barratt Homes has spent the year fundraising a total of £300,000 for charities across the region through a number of exciting events and thrill-seeking challenges – as well as a record-breaker along the way.
Barratt Homes is committed to helping the communities in which it is building and has raised the impressive total for organisations improving the quality of life for those living in the local area.
As well as the housebuilder’s Community Fund scheme, which donates £1,500 to a different charity each month, Barratt organised a catalogue of fundraising activities for 2022.
The Saints Foundation, a charity transforming lives in and around Southampton, was the leading housebuilder’s charity of the year once again, and Barratt has been raising funds in its honour.
An annual fundraising bash and auction at St Mary’s Stadium in September raised a record-breaking £187,000 for the Southampton Football Club charity. In August, Barratt’s board members took on a skydive and in May a group of employees took on the Romsey Relay in aid of the organization. Plus, Barratt sponsored the winning female rider in the Saints Foundation’s Big Bike Challenge in June.
In November, Barratt Homes showed its support to two Armed Forces charities. It donated £1,500 to Helping Homeless Veterans UK to help with the charity’s build project and passed on £1,000 to Bournemouth Above and Beyond to assist in its annual Remembrance Day event.
Tall Ships Youth Trust in Portsmouth has also been a recipient of the leading developer’s fundraising help. The charity, which enables young people, aged 12-25, to redefine their horizons on its voyages at sea, has been given a fantastic £20,000 from the housebuilder.
Barratt didn’t stop there either. The housebuilder donated £2,000 to Lewis-Manning Hospice Care in Poole in celebration of its 30th anniversary. It sold off its show home furniture in aid of No Limits, supported community events such as Swanage Carnival and Shaftesbury School fireworks, and also handed over a £40,000 worth of sponsorship to Swanage Cricket Club.
Continuing its fundraising aims right until the end of the year, Barratt provided Southampton-based Abby’s Heroes, which supports children and their families after a cancer diagnosis, with a £2,500 Christmas ‘gift’, and gave £100 for every home sold in December, to homeless charity, Stonepillow in Chichester.
It’s this incredible list of support, which has culminated in a tremendous total for organisations looking after those who need it, and Greg Baker, Head of the Saints Foundation, and Barratt’s charity of the year said: “Thanks to Barratt Homes we can continue to help thousands of people who need support in Southampton. We are hugely grateful for the incredible amount of money it has raised on our behalf.”
James Dunne, Managing Director at Barratt Homes, Southampton Division, said the housebuilder is thrilled to be able to help.
He said: “These charities are doing amazing work for local people and the community, and we want to show our support. It’s an absolute pleasure to be able to raise this sum of money in return for all their efforts.”
As well as funds, Barratt Homes has also been donating its time to organisations in the local area by dedicating 520 hours of volunteering time to charity.
