Bovis Homes appoints new Head of Talent

Bovis Homes has announced the appointment of a new national Head of Talent.

Roger Morton has joined the house builder to take up the role, which is new to the business, having spent the last 24 years with The British Army. He will initially be based at the company’s Green Park offices in Reading.

As Head of Talent, Roger will oversee the company’s group-wide Learning and Development and Health and Safety departments, working closely with the Head of HR. His focus will be on creating a structure across the business for developing existing staff skills, as well as identifying new talent to bring into the company.

Keith Carnegie, Chief Operating Officer at Bovis Homes, said: “At Bovis Homes, our overarching aim is to safely build quality on time. In order to do this we need our great people equipped to do great things. Roger joins us with a wealth of experience in nurturing talent and I’m confident that with him driving this agenda forward, we can further strengthen our staff’s skillsets as well as their health, safety and wellbeing at work.”

Roger added: “The house building industry is a new challenge for me, but talent is something that everybody has in one form or another. Key to my work will be making sure our behaviours unlock potential and maximise personal development for all of our teams. I’m looking forward to getting started.”

In his most recent role with HM Forces, as Chief Instructor in the Royal Engineers Warfare Wing, Roger led a senior team of 50 learning and development staff to train the next generation of leaders and communication specialists in a 12,000 strong organisation.

Roger’s role at Bovis Homes will see him take overall responsibility for the company’s group-wide induction process, professional development plans and apprenticeship programme, as well as its health, safety, environment and wellbeing functions.
