British Gypsum is delighted to announce that Gyproc AquaBead has been victorious at the prestigious Housebuilder Products Awards.
Gyproc AquaBead is a first of its kind product, which is quicker and easier to install than metal based alternatives. The award-winning product has been designed to save time and money for both housebuilders and installers alike.
Gyproc AquaBead offers considerable time saving to the installer and housebuilder in the initial installation process and in any necessary remedial activities. This saves money on labour costs and can boost productivity by 37.5%, which is the equivalent to completing 22 apartments in the time it would take to complete 16 using corner tape. It also helps housebuilders offer a better service to their customers by minimising post handover disturbance.
The product also achieves a 38% reduction in impact damage when compared to corner tape. On time pressured sites where multiple trades work simultaneously, this extra durability can save money on remedial work. Equally, homeowners are likely to catch corners, particularly in high traffic areas such as hallways when moving in furniture and as occupancy continues the more robust corners further reduce a possible pain point for residents.
Being polymer and not metal based, Gyproc AquaBead is safer to handle and easier to install than all other alternative products. The product can be cut with scissors and improves health and safety on site by reducing the likelihood of small cuts to installers’ hands, which are often caused by metal based alternatives. These benefits were recognised at the awards with Gyproc AquaBead winning the ‘Best Health and Safety Product’ category.

The awards, now in their fifth year reward excellence in the products and systems used in UK housebuilding. A panel of industry experts judged all awards with representatives from housebuilders, NHBC, the Home Builders Federation, Robust Details LTD, the BBA and the Construction Products Association. British Gypsum will receive its award at a winners lunch in June. Gyproc AquaBead will also be entered into the ‘Product of the Year’ award at November’s Housebuilder Awards.
