Castle Green Homes has welcomed management trainee Catrin Evans, where the 20-year-old recently joined the business on a rotational training programme. Catrin is studying for a BA Business Management with a Year in Industry at the University of Liverpool. As part of her degree, she chose to complete a year in industry at Castle Green Homes. “I live in Denbigh and so knew of Castle Green as they have a good reputation locally both for the quality of their homes and as an employer,” Catrin explained.
Castle Green focuses on bringing in young and enthusiastic people into the business, helping them develop new skills and build careers. Fellow student Megan Roberts recently completed Castle Green’s rotational training scheme and has returned to the University of Liverpool for the final year of her degree. “Speaking with Megan gave me a good feeling about joining Castle Green as she had an excellent experience,” Catrin said. “Everyone is really friendly and welcoming.”
Catrin has a long-standing interest in property and construction as her parents work in the industry. “I’m unsure what career path I want to take after university, but the rotational scheme will hopefully give me a clear understanding of my options,” Catrin said.
“I’ve started with the commercial team working alongside the quantity surveyors and buyers. I’ve enjoyed both areas and will then go onto the land department. I’m looking forward to learning about the processes involved before the company buys a site and starts building on it. I enjoyed studying marketing as part of my university course, so the sales and marketing department is the one I’m most interested in.”
Castle Green is headquartered in St Asaph, has an office at Preston Brook and live development sites across North Wales and the Northwest of England. The business now directly employs 114 people – that’s an increase of 37% since 2021.
Castle Green chief executive Gwyn Jones said: “Housebuilding offers a wide variety of career opportunities and it’s imperative that we invest in young people so that they can help us deliver much-needed new homes. The rotational programme is a great way for Catrin to gain an insight into potential future careers while learning new skills and is a prime example of how we’re supporting emerging future talent. We have a nurturing culture within the business and have focussed on giving our team additional support through work and part-time study.”
