Creating Positivity in the Mortgage Market

Mortgage Light

Milton Keynes businesswoman, Siobhan Holbrook, talks to us about her passion for the mortgage market and how she recently shared her insight into creating opportunity at a New Build Forum hosted by Legal & General.

It’s no surprise that the mortgage market has taken a succession of unprecedented economic hits in recent times. First there was the Covid pandemic, followed this year by rising interest rates, a hike in building material costs and client’s confidence shrinking. So when Mortgage Light’s owner, Siobhan Holbrook, was invited to take part in a recent Legal & General New Build Forum at Barclays UK, she was excited to share her views on nurturing relationships with banks, builders, housing association and of course educating our clients to build a more confident market place.

As one of Legal & General’s key partners, Siobhan was invited to the stage as a guest speaker to discuss her specialism within the New Build and Shared Ownership sectors. “I had an informative discussion with Zara Bray, head of Broker & Propositions at Legal & General Mortgage Club, about the New Build Market” Siobhan tells us. “Zara was intrigued to find out how, in a volatile market, Mortgage Light was growing.”

Siobhan explains that New Build, and New build Shared Ownership, has always been a key part of her business. “I shared with Zara and the audience about the hard work and determination my team put in to create opportunities for buyers and builders, no matter how difficult the circumstances. We’re well versed at navigating complicated cases and structuring deals to allow clients to secure the home they want, but also build relationship with our client so if they don’t have the confidence now, we can guide them for their future” she says.

Along with representatives from industry experts including Taylor Wimpey, Redrow, Barclays, Siobhan was part of a collaborative afternoon which discussed in depth the new homes market, the economy, and future housing.

Siobhan is passionate about like-minded people around the industry working together to create strategies for the future. “It’s really important that industry experts such as myself work together. This is key to overcoming obstacles we’re faced with” she says. “Ultimately our goal is to keep the property market moving, getting people into their new homes.”
