Footballers kick off showhome opening in Stoke on Trent

Three new showhomes were unveiled at a housing development in Stoke on Trent by members of Stoke City FC’s women’s team.

Players and staff from Stoke City Women were invited to Bellway’s The Crescent development off The Wood, in Meir, to cut the ribbon.

First team coach Louise Roberts, team captain Meg Bowyer and defender Hollie Gibson were in attendance to open the two-bedroom Potter, three-bedroom Turner and four-bedroom Bowyer houses on site.

Louise said: “It was a real honour to have been involved in such a substantial development in the city and to have played our part in opening these showhomes. The whole day went really well and was lots of fun, and we were made to feel incredibly welcome by Bellway and its staff at The Crescent.

“Part of our ethos as a community club is to make sure that we are getting involved with what is going on in the city, so when we were invited to open the showhomes, we were absolutely delighted and more than willing to take part.

“The development is only a couple of miles from us and is a huge redevelopment of an area that we already knew well. It is fantastic to see what Bellway is doing here and the quality of homes they are delivering to the city.

“It was great to speak with the Bellway staff, who took a real interest in what we are doing as a club and how they might be able to help us and continue our relationship into the future.

“We would like to thank Bellway for inviting us and we hope that this can be the start of a long and continued relationship between us.”

Marie Richards, Sales Director for Bellway West Midlands, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to invite Louise and her colleagues from Stoke City Women to our development, and to gain an appreciation of the role the club plays in the community, offering a platform for young footballers in the area to play the game in an open and inclusive environment.

“As a responsible housebuilder, we place a huge amount of emphasis on working with the local communities in which we build our homes.

“We would like to thank Louise, Meg and Hollie for coming along and taking part, and we would like to wish them all the very best for the rest of the season.

“With the new showhomes now officially open at The Crescent, people now have the chance to come and see for themselves the quality of homes we are delivering at this development.”

Bellway is building 181 new homes at The Crescent, including a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom houses. The development forms part of a wider scheme with another housebuilder to deliver 350 homes in the area, which will bring with it investment of almost £2.6 million in local facilities and infrastructure improvements.
