Barratt David Wilson Kent has revealed its 2024 Socio-Economic report, which highlights the social and economic impact it has had on people, places and nature in the surrounding areas of its developments in the county.
In 2024, the housebuilder contributed a total of £24.4 million to benefit local communities across Kent.
This includes £16.8 million expenditure on physical works, including highway and environmental improvements, affordable homes and community facilities in the region.
Barratt David Wilson Kent made a further £7.6 million contribution supporting community infrastructure through planning and Government schemes, with the launch of new schools and playgrounds.
Not only does the housebuilder invest in local communities it’s also donated £116,000 directly to local charities, with employees contributing to 413 hours of volunteering across the year. This included a week long volunteering project at East Malling based Communigrow and Maidstone based Archbishop Courtenay Primary School, building new flower beds and a pond area respectively.
Barratt David Wilson Kent is committed to enhancing biodiversity and greenspace across its developments. Last year, the housebuilder created four hectares of green space through public open space and private gardens, as well as installing 83 priority species enhancements, including swift nesting bricks, hedgehog highways and bat boxes.
During 2024, the housebuilder unveiled 510 homes in Kent, including 94 affordable homes, with over 98.8% constructed with sustainably sourced timber. Barratt David Wilson Kent is set to launch a range of new homes in 2025 in areas such as Sittingbourne, Deal and Ramsgate.
