Livingston property judged one of Scotland’s most beautiful homes

An aspirational showhome at Bellway’s Laurel Park in Livingston has been shortlisted for a top national award.

The Sunningdale is in the running for the title of Show Home of the Year in the Scottish Home Awards.

It beat competition from across Scotland to reach the final eight with the winner being announced on the 16th of September at a glittering awards ceremony at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.

The five bedroom Sunningdale is one of Bellway’s largest properties and is the ultimate in luxe living with its beautiful interior featuring silvery greys and jewel colours.

Lynn Pringle, Sales Director for Bellway Homes Ltd (Scotland East), said: “From the first moment we saw the Sunningdale we were blown away by how beautiful it is and visitors to Laurel Park seem to agree as they all ask where they can buy similar furnishing and wallpapers.

“We worked with the designers on the brief during the first lockdown at a time when we weren’t even sure that anyone would ever see it and poured a lot of hope and belief into its design and thankfully it has paid off.

“It really means the world to us that the judges agree with us and that such a beautiful home was created during such a difficult time.”

The gorgeous lounge of the Sunningdale features plush silver buttoned sofas dressed with sapphire velvet cushions and huge chandelier. A bold emerald velvet contemporary curved armchair is a real focal point of this room, which is made for entertaining guests, with gold accessories further amping up the glamour.

Emerald green appears again in the breakfast chairs of the impressive open plan kitchen, dining and family room, which look fantastic against the sophisticated dark grey units. A gorgeous round glass table with deep back chairs is the perfect place to enjoy a formal dinner, before relaxing with a coffee on the Italian style curved sofa. There is nothing minimalist about this kitchen, which is designed for socializing and offers space for the whole family to enjoy.

Upstairs, the en-suite master bedroom features a dramatic midnight blue velvet padded headboard and throw, contrasting perfectly with the crisp white bedlinen, deep pile silver carpet and curtains, which frame the double doors opening onto a Juliet balcony.

Rich sapphire blue appears again in the guest bedroom with its padded headboard and blinds but this time it is teamed with a dark mustard throw and cushions, along with a gorgeous feather trimmed emerald cushion.

In complete contrast the large second bedroom, which is also en-suite, takes the best of elements of the traditional girl’s room and gives it a contemporary twist, with a soft pink wallpaper with a dramatic black tiger print – there is definitely nothing sugar and spice about this design. A white velvet headboard again surprises with black edging and black spot bed-covers.

Golfers of all ages will adore the clubhouse style fourth bedroom with its full size mural of a player taking a shot on the greens and golf ball bed-cover. A beautiful home office with blue velvet sofa for relaxing between calls would make working from home a pleasure not a chore. A family bathroom completes the property.

Located in a quiet, family friendly setting close to good schools and surrounded by acres of green space, Laurel Park will offer a range of 120 four and five bedroom homes within commuting distance of Edinburgh.

A range of four bedroom homes are currently available for reservation at Laurel Park including the Victoria, Pinehurst and Avondale.

Priced from £335,995, the Victoria features a spacious living room, an open plan kitchen and breakfast room with French doors to the garden, a utility and store cupboard, a cloakroom and integrated garage.

The upper floor comprises of four bedrooms, three with fitted wardrobes, a family bathroom, and the master bedroom benefits from an ensuite.

Livingston with its excellent local shops, cafes, restaurants and bars is five minutes away by car from Laurel Park. Shoppers will love The Centre and Livingston Designer Outlets which offer top brands and leisure facilities.

The area boasts excellent sports clubs including Murieston United Community Football which has over 400 players from the ages of 5 to 70. Xcite Livingston is also a short drive away.

For a change of pace, residents can head to Bellsquarry Woods – a tranquil woodland where you can escape the pressures of modern life, watch the changing of the seasons and spot wild animals including roe deer. Murieston Castle, a ruined tower house dating from the 16th century, is situated near the woods. Polkemmet, Beecraigs and the Almondell and Calderwood country parks are also within easy reach.
