London Build takes construction online

London Build typically features: 500+ speakers across 8 conference theatres (Future London, London Design, Interiors & Fit-out, BIM & Digital Construction, Smart London, Sustainability, Interior & Fit-out, Innovation, Skills Hub, Fire Safety & Innovation and Infrastructure), 220+ CPD knowledge sessions, 400+ exhibitors across 7 exhibition zones and a range of exclusive free-to-attend networking events including: Meet the Buyer sessions, Women in Construction networking, entertainment, the Festival of Construction, celebrity guests and much more.  

London Build is not your average construction event. London Build believes doing business should be fun and includes within the event the Festival of Construction. The Festival of Construction at London Build includes: comedy acts, entertainment, celebrity guests, beer festivals, competitions, prize giveaways, live music and much, much more!

Exhibitors and visitors are able to meet and do business with London’s contractors, architects, specifiers, developers, local councils, housing associations, house builders engineers, suppliers and construction professionals.

However, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, like most other events, London Build Expo has been postponed until 17 – 18 November, 2021. However, the event has taken a huge leap forward into the digital. They are hosting a virtual event for the duration of two weeks online with a fantastic line up. 

London Build Online is from the organisers of the London Build Expo – the largest construction & design show in London that takes place annually at the Olympia London with 27,500+ attendees.

London Build Online is a virtual/online event covering all the latest projects & opportunities for the construction industry in London and across the UK. Over the course of two entire weeks (23 November – 02 December), London Build Online features:

There is much to look forward to in the online event including topics such as fire safety, sustainability, skill gaps and mental health and wellbeing. 

What to expect:

Day 1, 10:30am: The UK’s Construction Industry Update

This 90 minute panel discussion will start off the online event with expert speakers. The speakers include Fergus Harradence, Deputy Director, Construction, Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, Stefano Paiocchi​​, Associate, Zaha Hadid Architects, Councillor Darren Rodwell, Leader/Councillor,  Barking & Dagenham Council and Harbinder Birdi, Partner, Head of Infrastructure and Transport Sector, Hawkins\Brown

The rest of the day will include webinars focussing in depth on Disruption, Digitalisation and Decarbonisation: Trends Shaping the Construction Industry, and Connected Procurement: The Foundation of Construction Success with speakers such as Mike Pettinella, Director of EMEA Sales, Autodesk Construction Solutions.

Day 2, 10:30am: Presentation: Elevating the Open BIM Process for Structural Engineers to the Next Level

Day 2’s 90 minute panel discussion will open with keynote speaker Herman Oogink, Head of Strategic Alliances, SCIA. The panel discussion on BIM workflow efficiency will then proceed at 10:50am with panellists including Colin Westpfel, Head of Design, Balfour Beatty, Dr Marzia Bolpagni, BIM Manager, Mace, Eddie Jump, Technical Director, Thornton Tomasetti, Mohamed Ellithy, Digital Delivery Associate, Bryden Wood Technology and Nigel Rees, Business Strategy Manager, Allplan     

Day 3, 9:00am: Managing Fire Risk in the Fifth Facade

Day 3 focussing primarily on Fire safety and building a safer future for homes. This first 90 minute webinar will begin with a 20 minute presentation and introduction from Paul Barrett, Head of Product Management and Will Wigfield, Product Manager, from ROCKWOOL UK. 

The panel discussion will then commence at 9:20am with Paul Barrett, Head of Product Management, ROCKWOOL UK  as moderator. The speakers will include Justin Lewis, Technical Specification Manager – Flat Roofing, ROCKWOOL UK, Will Wigfield, Product Manager, ROCKWOOL UK, Howard Passey, Director of Operations and Principal Consultant, Fire Protection Association, Jim Isaacs, Senior Architectural Technician, Galliard Homes and Jay Hollands, Director, Kingsley Roofing London.

Day 8, 10:30am: Sustainability – Circular Economy in Construction

If you are interested in Sustainability, the 8th day will cover all things green, clean and sustainable. The first panel discussion will have speakers including Ruth Finlayson, Environment & Carbon Manager – Infrastructure, Skanska Katherine Adams, Technical and Research Associate, Alliance for Sustainable Building Products – ASBP, David Cheshire, Regional Director, AECOM and Joaquin Monge, Architect Associate, BDP
