Louise Walters, commercial director for Designer Contracts, UK flooring contractor, has been appointed as treasurer of the Contract Flooring Association (CFA). It is thought to be the first time a woman has been appointed as an officer on the board.
Louise, who has worked with Designer Contracts for more than 20 years, joined the CFA board two years ago and takes over the role from long serving treasurer John Butler of John Butler Contracts. The appointment was announced at the CFA AGM (August 15).
Richard Catt, CEO of the CFA, said: “This is a significant achievement and marks a milestone for the CFA as records suggest it is the first time a woman has been appointed as an officer.”
Louise added: “As a company we have long supported the aims and aspirations of the CFA. We have been particularly involved in the association’s drive for more skills and labour in the sector, including through the floor laying apprenticeship scheme delivered by the CFA’s training arm, FITA.”
Louise began her career with Designer Contracts as merchandise manager, later also taking on responsibility for marketing. She subsequently went on to become merchandise and marketing director and, four years ago was promoted to commercial director.
