City and Country have recently unveiled their award-winning Factory No.1 development on the former Imperial Tobacco Company factory in Bedminster, Bristol.
With 42 stylish homes across nine storeys, all boasting spectacular views over the city skyline, The Cutting Room, which takes its name from a stage in the tobacco factory process, is the tallest building ever constructed by City and Country. Thanks to high demand at Factory No.1, over 69% of the new build apartments have already been sold.
The impressive apartment is perfect for those home buyers looking for more space than the typical apartment. With two floors, the apartment’s double height ceiling in the living area features an elegant crystal sphere chandelier, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the terrace flooding the space with natural light.
Clementine Hillman, Interior Designer at City & Country, said: “The design and specification of this new show home within The Cutting Room at Factory No.1 has been thoughtfully considered to complement the historic character of the development’s original buildings, and to reflect the industrial feel by using modern grey hues and textured materials.
“We had to think very carefully about how best to reflect and reference the development’s notable heritage in a new build apartment, whilst crafting a home perfect for both young professionals buying their first home and downsizers looking for a hidden oasis in the city. Starting our design process with the industrial central chandelier to make the most of the high ceilings and give the apartment a contemporary feel, we then bought in subtle grey hues and brushed brass tones to reference Factory No.1’s industrial history.”
She also commented: “We always strive to stay ahead of the latest trends, and we continue to lead the market in Bristol with our high-end specification. This includes modern contemporary kitchens with stone worktops, integrated SMEG appliances and luxury bathrooms with Roca Gap sanitaryware and Vado Elements gold and black brassware to create a softened industrial look.”
Simon Vernon-Harcourt, Design and Planning Director, for City & Country added: “Factory No.1 continues to play a significant role in the ever-changing area of Bedminster. Once leading the way for the industrial revolution, it is now playing a role in making the area the best new place to live.
“As a location of a former tobacco factory, we wanted to create strong new architecture that picks up on the industrial history of the site, whilst taking considerable care in the restoration of what was already there.
“The new apartment buildings effortlessly blend with the old, yet add a modern twist to the architectural style, and pay homage to the past with names such as Tobacco Store and Cutting Room.”
