Looking ahead to the new year, the design experts at Moores have identified the key colour trends that will influence kitchens in 2024. Some colours will be familiar, others are more surprising, but for developers and designers alike, the good news is there is an ever-increasing range of options available to help create that perfect living space.
Green
A clear favourite for the past few years, muted green cabinetry offers an earthy alternative to the emerald jewel tones which have been popular of late. The ideal antidote to counteract busy lifestyles, olive and sage colours create an ambient space, bringing natural elements from the outside into the home. Combine a dusty green shade with clean, sculptural lines and elements of black, white, taupe or dark wood for a tranquil kitchen design.
Shelves offer an ideal space for kitchen gardens full of potted plants, herbs and lush botanicals, while tiles and worktops with an artisanal, handmade finish add to the organic look.
Red
A colour many would usually shy away from, red is set to slowly make its way back onto the scene as consumers search for more confident choices. Rusty red tones are well suited when paired with organic textures such as mid-tone woods, wicker and bronze metallics. Red cabinetry also works particularly well within Victorian-inspired spaces, teamed with decorative flooring and exposed brick walls to create a space with period charm and modern appeal.
Blue
As popular as ever, deep blue shades continue to hold the spotlight. Industrial styling is a huge influence here, with this dramatic dark shade balanced with minimalistic elements such as light concrete or Calacatta marble surfaces and silver brassware. A bold colour option, blue kitchens require lots of natural or strategically placed lighting to ensure the colour really shines.
White
White has shifted from its role of creating a blank canvas to becoming the focal point of a room. Combining warm white cabinetry with light wood and textured surfaces creates a calming, restful kitchen design which is incredibly easy for homeowners to style. Accentuate with dramatic metallic effects, such as brushed brass and matt black door handles, taps and lighting.
