Potential new homeowners hoping to move to a development which is transforming a former colliery site in Bedworth will be able to get a closer look at what is on offer shortly.
Bellway will be opening the doors of its Joiner and Tailor showhomes at Astley Fields to the public for the first time this spring.
A total of 169 homes are being built at the site off Astley Lane, with 127 two, three and four-bedroom houses for private sale. There will also be 42 affordable houses and one-bedroom apartments available for local people through rent or shared ownership.
The former Newdigate Colliery – where the properties are being built – was a major part of the Warwickshire coalfield and local economy for more than 80 years before it closed in 1982.
Marie Richards, Sales Director of Bellway West Midlands, said: “House-hunters will now have the chance to see the first completed homes at our Astley Fields development as we open up two showhomes to the public in Spring.
“The first three and four-bedroom properties were released for sale on Thursday 17 March and the showhomes, which will be two and three-bedroom properties, will now offer potential buyers an opportunity to see examples of typical homes available.
“We have seen a great deal of interest in this development already as it provides much-needed homes to the area and gives a new lease of life to this historic site.”
Construction work is progressing well at the 28-acre development, more than a third of which will be provided as public open space, including a children’s play area and cycle paths.
The showhomes will be the two-bedroom Joiner and three-bedroom Tailor house types from Bellway’s flagship Artisan Collection, which showcases the best in contemporary home design, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern construction techniques.
Marie said: “The fact we will have two different showhomes will help more buyers to see the space and quality they can expect in a new home here.
“The mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties for sale at Astley Fields will cater for many potential homebuyers looking to move to this development, whether they be first-time buyers or a growing family interested in the area.”
Astley Fields is three miles from Bedworth town centre and train station, six miles from Nuneaton town centre and seven miles from the city of Coventry.
