Story Homes opens doors to future apprentices

Story Homes – the award-winning Cumbria-based residential property developer – has this week (4 January) opened its 2016 apprenticeship scheme for applications.

The developer is looking to recruit 12 apprentices in both joinery and bricklaying across Cumbria, the North West and the North East, with successful applicants being offered apprenticeships in these trades.

The scheme also offers the usual benefits to Story Homes employees, which includes a pension, Healthshield and a competitive salary.TheRidings

Story Homes’ apprenticeship scheme aims to recruit the brightest and most passionate school and college leavers from 16 years upwards and offers a full development programme, including on-the-job training and the potential to move into trainee site management at the end of a successful programme.

The developer is working alongside My Kinda Futures to run the recruitment process, which will involve a telephone interview and completion of a real-life brief at an assessment centre. The organisation is heavily involved with many schools, colleges and universities, and is dedicated to exposing students to the best employment options.

Shelley Hayward, Story Homes’ talent and development manager, said: “There has never been a better time to consider an apprenticeship, with more businesses understanding the unique benefits of on-the-job training than ever before. We have always valued the hands-on approach of apprenticeships and many of our former apprentices have achieved great things within the business.

“Being an apprentice at Story Homes offers candidates more than just an earn-while-you-learn experience – we plan for everyone’s future careers. We can’t wait to review the applications and meet our next group of new recruits!”

Applications for apprenticeships close mid-February.
