Three finalist places for house developers

Barratt

Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Southampton division is coming out on top in the region’s property sector, with three finalist places at this year’s South Coast Property Awards.

The prestigious awards recognise the contributions of agents, developers, planners, consultants, property lawyers, and dealmakers to the success of the construction industry. The leading Hampshire housebuilder has been selected as finalist in the Housebuilder of the Year category for demonstrating contributions to the local economy and the community, and its overall reduced impact on the environment.

Barratt has also secured two finalist places in the Residential Development of the Year category for Madgwick Park in Chichester and Harbour Place in Bedhampton for attractive, well-designed developments that are surrounded by open space, and featuring the latest modern energy-efficient technology that make them cheaper to run.

Harbour Place enhances and supports the environment while allowing its residents to live in harmony with nature. With more than 30.5 acres of green space, the beautiful development is home to 31,000 bee-friendly planted shrubs and trees, 15,682 new sapling hedgerows, 9 acres of wildflower meadows and 6 biodiversity areas with ponds.

Madgwick Park has a Victorian influence, updated to modern standards with high levels of insulation and electric vehicle (EV) chargers, while its grounds and gardens focus on significantly improving the area’s biodiversity while respecting today’s delicate ecology. It also benefits from beautiful landscaped open spaces and a children’s play area.

Both shortlisted developments also hold the Built for Life stamp of approval, an independent design accreditation scheme developed to measure what really makes a new development a good place to live, measured against 12 categories of design, ranging from public transport connections to integration with the surrounding architecture.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes Managing Director, James Dunne, said: “This is an amazing achievement and is testament to our hard-working teams across the region.

“At Barratt and David Wilson Homes our focus remains on providing high-quality, energy efficient, sustainable homes and developments which our customers want, and to receive three finalist places for these awards, is a high accolade. We’ll all be looking forward to the final ceremony in June.”

Winners of the South Coast Property Awards will be announced at a special ceremony on Thursday, 8th June at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes have 11 active developments across Hampshire, Dorset, West Sussex, and the Isle of Wight. Making a significant economic and social impact in the region, the developer has invested £46 million locally, more than £300,000 of which has gone to local charities, and employees also dedicated 520 hours of volunteering to charities and local initiatives.
