Amica home appliances supports first open water swim event in Oxford

Amica home appliances is kicking off a yearlong programme of supporting grass roots sporting events

Amica home appliances is kicking off a yearlong programme of supporting grass roots sporting events with a sponsorship of Oxford’s first open water swim event on the River Thames. The 4k Lock to Lock event on September 6th is the first of three river swims launched by local Oxford triathletes and businessmen Bob Gibson and Darrin Roles.

Simon Freear, country manager for Amica in the UK and Ireland explains, “We have involved six retailers in the immediate Oxford area in this event. Supporting local sports focusing on young people is a key part of our marketing focus for the coming twelve months. Although the 4k Lock to Lock is also open to experienced adult athletes the entry age actually starts at 14 and there are plenty of opportunities for spectators to watch events as they unfold along the way.”

Amica sponsorship includes an undisclosed sum towards putting on the event and a suite of home appliances worth £1000 to the overall winner on the day. With 250 swimmers expected entry is strictly by pre-registration.  The day starts at 6.00am with the first wave setting off at 8.30am.  Tickets, priced at £40.00 per head, are available from www.swimoxford.co.uk. A comfortable wetsuit is recommend.  Competent swimmers aged between 14yrs and 114yrs are welcome.

The Amica brand is one of the fastest growing brands in the UK and Ireland. The brand has built a loyal following of independent electrical retailers by offering a technology rich product backed up with a 2 year guarantee.
