Cumbrian Homes is Britain’s first regional housebuilder to adopt British Gypsum’s Silent Floor soundproofing, Gyproc Habito super–strength plasterboard and Thistle Magnetic Plaster as standard. “When we saw the buyers’ reactions to the British Gypsum products, we knew straight away we’d made the right choice,” explains Managing Director Nigel Pallister.
New build houses sometimes get a bad press when it comes to the quality of internal walls. But when buyers move into their homes at Cumbrian Homes’ new Carleton Manor Park development in Penrith, they will experience exceptional quality. Cumbrian Homes is Britain’s first regional housebuilder to adopt British Gypsum’s Sound Solutions soundproofing products, Gyproc Habito super–strength plasterboard and Thistle Magnetic Plaster as standard.
“Our role as a developer is to bring the latest products and technologies to home buyers,” explained Nigel Pallister, Managing Director at Cumbrian Homes. “When we saw the benefits of British Gypsum’s latest innovations, we knew we wanted to specify them for the homes at our new development in Penrith. In particular, we wanted to install Silent Floor soundproofing as standard because we know noise transfer between rooms in a home is something house buyers want to avoid. And to add that little something extra, within the price we’ve also given homebuyers the option to create a ‘sound haven’ by adding Silent Wall in a room of their choice.” Whether homebuyers want a peaceful night’s sleep, a quiet home office space, or they want to mask noise from loud hobbies, Silent Wall is giving home buyers another reason to choose Cumbrian Homes.
“We like to do everything we can to allow our home buyers to live the life they want in a Cumbrian home,” continued Nigel. “The soundproofing products we’ve used are complemented by further innovations from British Gypsum – Gyproc Habito super-strength plasterboard and Thistle Magnetic Plaster.”
Gyproc Habito is five times stronger than standard plasterboard, making homes feel reassuringly solid compared with standard walls and is a really durable material to work with on a building site. What’s more, when people move into Carleton Manor Park, DIY will no longer be a chore – Gyproc Habito can support 15kg of weight from one number 10 woodscrew, with no wall plugs or power tools required. “When we opened our new show home, the reaction to the British Gypsum products was fantastic,” described Nigel. “Homebuyers love the idea of sound havens, they had a great time being creative with the magnetic wall and were amazed to see the difference between standard plasterboard and Gyproc Habito.”
On the back of Carleton Manor Park’s success, Nigel plans to use similar products at Cumbrian Homes’ next development: “As home buyers continue to demand higher specifications, these types of innovative products from British Gypsum are just what we need to get people talking about us and help us create homes that not only sell quicker, but also achieve premium prices.”
