Choosing the right floor for each room

Moduleo MD David Bigland tells Showhome how to choose the right floor for every room in the home

What kind of finish do I want to create?
If you are planning a new floor, it is first important to decide on the type of feel and look you are trying to create. For a living or dining room, you may want to consider carpet, warm wooden tones, or perhaps a rug of some kind. Bathrooms or kitchen on the other hand may benefit from a tiled-effect floor. If you are keen to create space, then large planks or tiles can be helpful to open up any room in the house.

Will I need a moisture-proof finish?
Traditionally tiles have been common in kitchens and bathrooms due to their moisture-proof quality. However, if you have little ones at home who may be prone to dropping food and drink, it is worth considering a moisture proof solution in other areas of the home too, including bedrooms and playrooms. Moduleo provides an alternative to stone tiles as all of our products are hard-wearing, moisture-proof and also much warmer on tiny toes!

Will I need extra grip?
If you are planning a new floor in a room that leads directly off the garden, or perhaps in the hallway that could easily become wet, it is worth considering a product with a high anti-slip rating. All products from Moduleo are exhaustively tested and have achieved an anti-slip rating of R10; certifying that they are safer underfoot than many of their natural counterparts.

How much wear and tear will my floor receive?
Whereas fluffy carpets may be fine for a bedroom, if you choose to install a carpet in areas of heavy footfall such as hallways, it may appear worn quickly. Moduleo flooring is available in both Select and Transform ranges, with Transform created for busy areas, as the enhanced wear layer make it an ideal product for areas with heavy footfall.

Will I be installing under floor heating?
Even if this is not something you are planning to do right away, it is worth considering whether you may want to install under floor heating at a later date. Some types of flooring are not compatible with under floor heating. Moduleo floors however, are ideal for this and are designed to withstand heat of up to 27 degrees.

Is my floor levelled?
If you are planning to lay tiles, wooden floors or dry back luxury vinyl flooring, you need to consider whether or not your floor may need levelling. If this is not a cost or inconvenience you want to incur, there are other options available. Our Click range for instance, simply locks into place without the need for adhesive or a completely level surface; making the floor-laying process much more time and cost-effective.

Does my family have problems with allergies or sensitivity to chemicals?
Carpets are great at hiding dust, dirt and allergens which can be troublesome with a young family or those that suffer from allergies. Choosing a floor with a hard surface makes your home much more hygienic and easy to clean. Moduleo flooring simply wipes clean without the need for harsh chemicals, making it the ideal solution for any home.

Moduleo produces a diverse range of vinyl floor tiles in a large selection of colours and finishes. Moduleo products are available in both a traditional LVT construction and a simple-to-install Click system which offers added flexibility. By investing in innovative manufacturing techniques, Moduleo is proud to be at the forefront of this industry whilst also offering an environmentally friendly option for consumers.
