Crown Trade Helps Miller Homes Build A Greener Future

companies join to enhance customer satisfaction and improve sustainability

Leading housebuilder Miller Homes has joined forces with Crown Trade to enhance customer satisfaction and improve sustainability.

Miller Homes wished to avoid any potential issues associated with the yellowing of conventional solvent borne glosses – and it turned to the high performance products from Crown Trade for a solution.

Crown Paints’ National Construction Manager, Jim Sweeney, recommended the use of Crown Trade Acrylic Satin Finish as an excellent alternative to traditional solvent-based gloss paint products.

Used on all woodwork including doors and window sills, the virtually solvent free alternative to traditional satin finishes is helping Miller Homes reduce its carbon footprint by approximately 20 per cent.

As a quick-drying product, the acrylic satin finish also offers a smooth, elegant finish for interior and exterior wood as well as properly-primed metalwork.

Not only is the switch to Acrylic Satin benefiting Miller Homes’ sustainability programme, it also enhances customer satisfaction as the product retains a crisp, white finish and redecoration cycles are extended. The product also offers a better match to pre-finished trims and features in new homes too.

Jim Sweeney said: “When Miller Homes asked what Crown could do to help them lower their carbon footprint, as well as maintain a superior result, we had no hesitation in suggesting this product.

“The Crown Trade Acrylic Satin Finish is a non-yellowing paint, which is quick drying and is being applied throughout new build homes, on room doors, cupboard doors and window sills.”

Miller Homes is also using water-based Crown Trade Covermatt for interior walls. A specially-formulated emulsion, geared up for the decoration of new build interiors, this quick drying paint allows walls to breathe, making it ideal for new plaster.

Lee Gaskin, Procurement Manager for Miller Homes, said: “Moving to water-based products is a positive step for Miller Homes as a company.

“The use of the Acrylic Satin Finish allows us to provide an end result that looks just as good as using a gloss. It is also far more beneficial to the environment and our clients benefit from longer lasting colour on woodwork and, therefore, an extended redecoration cycle.

“We already use Crown Trade Covermatt on our interior walls and we are delighted to extend our partnership with Crown Trade to include the Acrylic Satin Finish.”
