Best multi-dwelling Installation
Finite Solutions, a Smart-home consultancy based in Leeds are proud recipients of the CEDIA 2010 award for Best Multi-dwelling Installation for their work on the recently completed Greenhouse development in Leeds.
When Leeds based developers CITU committed to transforming a dilapidated site in the South of the city into a mixed use development of homes and offices their aim was to set the standard for low carbon developments without compromising on modern living standards.
Finite Solutions were consulted at the early stages of the project to ensure that all the technology incorporated into the development including a variety of renewable energy sources; such as wind turbines, solar panels and a ground source heat pump could be seamlessly integrated into a userorientated interactive system based around IPTV installed into every property.
Residents are encouraged to interact with their community using the technology provided; they are able to monitor the consumption of power and carbon emissions for each property, book an electric pool car for local journeys and keep abreast of local news and events via an interactive community
notice board.
Finite Solutions designed and installed pre-wired networks for multi-room audio and data systems providing access to the resident’s music collection throughout the properties.
The penthouse and show apartments were commissioned with Systemline products allowing potential customers to experience the systems first hand, the energy performance considerations were not forgotten; in order to retain the maximum insulation efficiency, traditional in-wall speakers were abandoned in favour of on-wall units reducing the penetration of the internal walls.
Greenhouse was officially opened by Hilary Benn MP in October 2010. More details can be found at
