Leading global construction and development organisation Skanska has unveiled its first residential property in the UK under the company’s new offer, Homes by Skanska.
Having developed a large and successful construction business in the UK over the last 12 years, Skanska’s unveiling of its four bedroom show home at its Seven Acres development in Cambridge gives customers their first glimpse of a Skanska home in the UK.
The Scandinavian firm – best known in the UK for its development of 30 St Mary Axe (aka the Gherkin) in the city of London – has been moving into the residential property market since the end of 2010, and has a clear focus on meeting the long-term need for high-quality residential properties in the UK.
Seven Acres will deliver 128 new homes ranging from two bedroom apartments to two and three-storey townhouses with three and four bedrooms. Each home is built with a fabric-first approach, and is equipped with the insulation and energy-efficient technologies required to meet level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. Seven Acres also benefits from a design which maximises the ecological value of the local environment. Landscaped swales, green roofs and mini allotments complement the existing eco-system and allow residents to enjoy the natural environment.
In addition to a focus on sustainable living, Seven Acres also exhibits the most distinctive in functional design, following Scandinavian principles. Access to natural light and flexible, open-plan living areas are prioritised, offering residents a practical yet elegant living space.
Since making properties on its Seven Acres development available to purchase off-plan the housebuilder has already sold 20 properties on the scheme, including its four-bedroom Code level 5 Eva House – the most sustainable property built under the Homes by Skanska brand.
Architects for the scheme are Formation Architects.
Commenting on the unveiling of its pioneering show home, Magnus Andersson, President of Homes by Skanska said: “It gives me great pleasure to be able to give our customers a first glimpse of our sustainable and functionally designed homes. Thanks to our Nordic operations, we have a wealth of experience in this sector and feel we are well placed to develop our UK business in the residential property sector.
“Our Scandinavian heritage is central to everything we do and we look forward to delivering our homes, firstly in Cambridge, and then across our planned developments within commuting distance of London. This marks the latest stage of an exciting journey for Skanska in the UK.
Reservations are now being taken at Seven Acres, with prices ranging from £295,000 for a two bedroom apartment to £760,000 for a four-bedroom, three-storey townhouse.
