31 Palace Street is a handsome late Georgian townhouse which has been creatively refurbished by the Thornsett Group, to offer a stylish London home. The accommodation extending to some 2,700 sq ft has been expensively appointed for a luxurious contemporary lifestyle and comprises of 5 bedrooms and 3 receptions. The house is located moments from Buckingham Palace, Victoria station and St James Park in
an area that is seeing a surge in restoring these fabulous houses back to their former glory.

The brief for Shirley Browne Interiors, at this prestigious project was to create a luxurious show home which would appeal to a modern family or international couple, that required space to entertain, live and work. The house is set over five floors and so to create a flow,
“James White “ by Farrow & Ball was used on all painted walls. This off white wall colour is a great backdrop with which to show off the furniture, artwork and flooring. A very contemporary decision had been taken with regard to flooring; the carpets are thick charcoal wool velvet, which contrast nicely to the warm walnut floors throughout the whole of the ground and lower ground levels, which again create a sense of flow and continuity to a multi floored house.

The furniture was an eclectic mix of pieces, sourced worldwide. The international brief hopefully appeals to a wide range of potential purchasers. In the living room the large English made sofa, contrasts with the black rattan chairs from Thailand and the coffee table from Andrew Martin. The grey tones on the curtains and sofa, tie in with the carpets further up the house and splashes of colour have been added with some bright vases and the very modern “Confetti” rug by Wovenground. Some glamour was injected with the faceted
mirror console tables and the steel horse sculpture gave some added interest.

Upstairs the whole first floor was given over to a huge master bedroom suite. The bedroom leads through to a dressing room and onto a bathroom with double sink, large bath and double shower/steam room. The dressing of the bed was very important and the luxurious feel was created by layering crisp white linen, with a velvet bedspread and a mix of striped satin and black sequined cushions – very on trend!!
The other four bedrooms mix the contemporary with some traditional elements, such as buttoning on headboards, classic mirrored beside chests, stag print cushions and cable knit bed blankets.

On the lower ground floor is the breakfasting kitchen and separate dining room. These are both very light rooms with the pale wall colour and choice of high gloss units. Very simple white leather chairs and glass top table have been used in the dining room, to keep the look simple, yet chic.
