Modus set to launch 10 products

At London Design Festival

Modus will launch 10 outstanding new products during the London Design Festival at this year’s designjunction 2012.

Adding to their roster of renowned international design talent, Modus will debut an exciting collection of furniture pieces by Arik Levy, Shin Azumi and Magnus Long, alongside existing collaborators including Christophe Pillet, Simon Pengelly, Michael Sodeau, PearsonLloyd and Jonathan Prestwich.

Focusing on the work environment (including creative meeting spaces and break out areas) the new
collection includes an innovative modular storage system, a practical meeting table and a versatile side chair, as well as private and public seating options, shelving and occasional tables.

In addition to this, Modus will be hosting the largest PechaKucha night in the London series at designjunction on Friday 21 September. Visit www.modusfurniture.co.uk or www.pechakucha-london.com for more details.

NEW PRODUCT COLLECTION INCLUDES:

GETA by Arik Levy
Inspired by Japanese sandals bearing the same name, Geta is a beautiful collection of storage cabinets based on individual modules. The three options for the base and top combine with internal units to create a modular storage solution in various configurations for meeting spaces and bedrooms. Geta is available in a range of timbers, veneers and painted lacquers.

AERIAL by Shin Azumi
A series of occasional tables with a simple yet complex sculptural beauty. The table structure consists of four identical legs that are water jet cut from aluminium and slot together to create the four legged base. The off centered slotting position creates the sculptural expression like the aerial view of a tropical plant. Available in anodized aluminium and finished with a range of tops.

META by Simon Pengelly
Originally designed in 2001, the award-winning Meta shelving unit has been modified to offer fully adjustable shelving units for different custom designs. Constructed from folded sheet steel, Meta is a sophisticated multifunctional shelving system. The modular components enable limitless custom combinations, which are suitable for a wide range of domestic and commercial environments. Meta is available in powder coated finishes in a wide variety of colours.

HOLD by Jonathan Prestwich
The elegantly formed plywood shell of Hold has been specifically designed to support people turning in their seats in today’s flexible work environment. Hold offers a comfortable elbow rest to aid working and a wrap-around back that allows the user to turn, lean and be more flexible for impromptu meetings. Available in two shell forms with or without ‘wings’ and with the option of a fully upholstered seat and back. Base options include; a steel tube stack base, a wooden base or a moulded aluminium swivel base, designed to be broken down after life for recycling.

LIBRARY by Michael Sodeau
This compact high back sofa has a simple sculptural quality which gives it an elegant appearance.
The sofa can be used in a variety of situations and its high back give it a degree of privacy ideal for break out spaces, hotel lobbies and lounges. The sofa can also be used in other open plan applications as the high back and sides give it some protection from background noise. Produced from moulded polyurethane foam over a steel insert, to maintain its slim proportions, and with carefully pattern cut upholstery. By upholstering the sofa in different fabrics it can look both formal or fun.

PARK LANE by Christophe Pillet
Park Lane is a stunning new furniture collection, combining elegance with supreme comfort. The range consists of a stylish low sofa with a slim steel frame and brushed chrome legs, which form integral upholstered arm rests. The collection is upholstered with generously proportioned feather cushions and is available in both two and three seater versions as well as an armchair.

ORBITAL TABLE by Christophe Pillet
A key principle behind Pillet’s design is simplicity, reflected in the new Orbital Table, which is seamlessly moulded from high gloss GRP. Its sleek contours are designed to match those of the highly acclaimed Orbital chair and available in either black or white.

CONFERENCE by Jonathan Prestwich
A refined and elegant table offering a simple solution for meeting tables, soft desking and conference rooms. Its unique design is engineered to allow different length table options and incorporates an integral cable management system. The table legs are available in a range of timbers or painted, while the table surface is available in a variety of laminate colours, providing a clever solution for contract settings.

BEND by Magnus Long
A simple, versatile upholstered bench seat for open-plan spaces, foyers and galleries, Bend was conceived to facilitate social or solo seating formats. The benches work individually or collectively, while the interior angle of the bench facilitates forum discussion. The exterior provides more transient seating space for groups or individuals to work or rest. Bends substantial form means that benches can be positioned together to form semi-permanent seating zones. When specified en-masse, these soft forms can be used to diffuse architectural lines into more manageable spaces, as well as creating more formal seating schemes. Fabric or leather options are available.

PLC bar stool by PearsonLloyd
Due to the overwhelming success of the PLC collection by British design duo PearsonLloyd, modus has extended the range to include a brand new bar stool. A design classic in the making, the bar stool is available in solid oak or painted beech, with optional upholstery. Similar to the rest of the PLC collection, the stool combines traditional joinery with ply pressing and the latest CNC manufacturing techniques and is perfect for both classic and contemporary interiors.
