Redrow in the running for five safety awards

Redrow is building a reputation for safety – with five sites receiving commendations in industry awards.

The NHBC (National House Building Council) Health and Safety Awards are the UK’s only health and safety awards exclusively for home builders.

A record 61 first round winners including five Redrow developments will go through to the finals on July 8 in Birmingham when they’ll discover if they’ve won a higher award – highly commended, national runner-up and overall winner.

The commended Redrow sites are: Ricksby Grange, Wrea Green, Lancashire; Dukes Manor, Walkden, Manchester; Pennine Grange, Tamworth, Staffordshire; Woodford Garden Village, Woodford, Cheshire, and Hall Croft, Wickersley, South Yorkshire.

David Ford, Group health and safety director for Redrow Homes, said: “The fact that five of our developments have been awarded commendations in this year’s NHBC Health and Safety Awards is outstanding given that the NHBC received the highest number of entries ever this year.

“I’d like to congratulate all the site teams including their contractors for their hard work and determination in obtaining these awards and wish them the best of luck for the finals.”

Primarily designed to recognise and reward the very best in health and safety, the annual awards also help drive up safety standards in the industry by showcasing and sharing best practice.

To achieve a commendation, building sites are subject to multiple inspection visits carried out by NHBC health and safety advisors. Overall regional and national winners will ultimately be determined by an independent judging panel.

The Redrow site managers overseeing construction works at the commended sites at Martin Caldwell at Ricksby Grange; Elliot Burns at Dukes Manor; Jonathan Glover at Pennine Grange, Mark Hitchen at Woodford Garden Village and Tony Stanley at Hall Croft.
