Search for a building in need of a renewable renovation

Puragen competition

Do you know a building in need of makeover? Whether it’s a church hall, community centre, school or scout hut, a chance to refurbish your community building is here. Renewable energy specialist Puragen is launching a competition inviting people to nominate a local building for a renewable technologies renovation.

Puragen has recognised that with the continuation of budget cuts, maintaining community buildings is a serious issue for many communities and so this competition is a chance for locals to help significantly improve a prominent building in their area.

With the ever-growing price of energy, using renewable sources is a cost-effective solution. As leading specialists in renewable electric and heat generating technologies, Puragen will make-over the winning entry in to an, efficient and eco-friendly building.

Alan Charlton, head of Puragen said: “We’re offering the community a fantastic opportunity for one of their prominent buildings to become a beacon of sustainability and demonstrate how renewable technologies can really help to keep running costs down. Local buildings are used by all generations, whether it’s for coffee mornings, fundraising events, mother and baby groups or scouts groups, so we hope this will be an opportunity for the whole community to come together to help improve the environmental performance of their meeting place. Being able to contribute towards the future of a community and its activities is a really exciting prospect for us.”

Nominations will open on 1st of November allowing people to put forward a building that they feel needs this renovation. Entrants are required to email in a photograph of their chosen building accompanied by a 150 word description of why it deserves to win to keepingitlocal@puragen.co.uk or post the entry to Freepost RTBG-AXYX-BCLL, Keeping it Local, Puragen, Dunstable, LU5 5ZX

Entries will be judged and a shortlist of all national finalists will be released at the end of January 2013. These finalists will be put to the public vote on the Puragen website www.puragen.co.uk/keepingitlocal throughout February 2013. The building that receives the most online votes will be announced as the winner and receive this amazing makeover.
