Anwyl Homes new neighbourhood in Knowsley has been recognised for providing employment for local people and bringing a vacant site back into good use to tackle the housing shortage.
Anwyl Homes is celebrating after its Edenhurst Grange scheme at Bowring Park was named development of the year at the Knowsley in Business Awards. The company’s Carrs Rise development scooped the same award in 2019.
At Edenhurst Grange, Anwyl has transformed a vacant 6.96 hectare site, which had become blighted by anti-social behaviour, into a desirable neighbourhood of 124 new homes.

It’s testament to the hard work that has gone into Edenhurst Grange from the planning stages through to construction and sales.
“Through that dedication we’ve brought the land back into good use to provide much-needed new high quality, energy efficient homes, while also providing employment for local people. The result is a vibrant new neighbourhood that’s proved popular with buyers and judges in the Knowsley in Business Awards.”
The award comes in the fifth anniversary year for Chorley-based Anwyl Homes Lancashire, part of the wider, family-run Anwyl Group.
The Lancashire business has completed more than 500 homes over the last five years across central and west Lancashire, plus parts of Merseyside and is now making inroads into Greater Manchester.
Anwyl was the first developer to sign up to a partnership between Knowsley Council and social enterprise Fusion 21 to ensure that people living in Knowsley benefit from major developments taking place in the area, including Edenhurst Grange. Around half of those who worked on site were from the Knowsley area. The homebuilder also facilitated educational visits to inspire young people to pursue careers in construction.
Two hectares of the land is public open space, including children’s play areas, while bird and bat boxes have been installed to provide homes for nature within the development.
Anwyl has made a highways contribution of £800,000 for the installation of traffic lights on the Rimmer Avenue/ Court Hey Road junction and upgrading of footpaths on Bowring Park Avenue in Roby.
While all of the homes are private sale properties, Anwyl has made a contribution of almost £570,000 to the local authority towards providing affordable housing within the borough.
The homebuilder also made a series of voluntary donations to good causes in the area including a £3,300 gift to Knowsley food bank and £1,000 to Incredible Edible Knowsley.
