Rapid growth drives CPBigwood regional management restructure

CPBigwood has continued to re-shape its management structure in the wake of its acquisition by national property services company SDL Group.

Following the announcement of a new board team it has unveiled a reorganisation of the Residential Service Charge (RSC) department.

The department, which specialises in managing flats/apartments, sheltered/retirement schemes and mixed use developments, is to be split geographically with Martin Nicholls, newly promoted to partner, and existing partner Bill Drake-Lee becoming head of region for the Midlands & North and London & South respectively.

CPBigwood manages around 25,000 units spread over more than 500 developments across 30 counties in England, and currently has a pipeline of 15,000 new units across the country.

Ian Smallman, executive partner, RSC Operations, said: “We have been rapidly expanding our units under management and we have ambitious targets for further growth.

“To meet those challenges we decided it was the right time to make these changes.

“It is of key importance that we are regional, and this North-South split will continue to make that statement.

“London & South includes our London and Southampton offices and Midlands & North takes in Birmingham, Loughborough and Stratford-upon-Avon.”

Bill Drake-Lee, a former Leicester and Moseley rugby player, leads the London & South region. He has over 20 years of experience in managing residential properties and also focuses on advising developers on service charge and management strategies for residential and mixed use developments. He is supported by Mark Lewis, associate partner, as regional operations manager.

Mr Smallman noted: “Mark is from an accounts background which demonstrates our understanding of the needs of clients on the most complicated properties who require senior input to meetings and reports.”

Martin Nicholls has been with the company since 1999 and heads the Midlands and North region. He specialises in residential property management, and is involved with national and local developers in setting up new service charge schemes.

John Nouch has stepped down as head of office in Southampton but is to remain with the business as a consultant. Karen Greenaway takes on the role of office manager there and Samantha Simpson is promoted to senior property manager. Mandy Chase joins as a new service charge accountant in Southampton.

Ross Hollingshead becomes senior property manager for London while chartered building surveyor Jane Beacham will be more involved with properties in the capital.

“This is the Residential Service Charge property management team which will take us forward into the future as we continue to strengthen and further develop the business,” said Mr Smallman.
