UK heating manufacturer, Baxi…

UK heating manufacturer, Baxi, is proud to announce that it has received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation. The prestigious accolade, bestowed during Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee year, has been awarded to Baxi for its highly-successful Baxi Ecogen micro-combined heat and power (micro-CHP) boiler.

Using a Free Piston Stirling Engine, Baxi Ecogen is a like-for-like replacement for a conventional boiler, which generates up to 1kW electricity that can be used in the home or exported back to the electricity grid. It is MCS certified so is eligible for the Government’s Feed-in Tariff, making it a cost effective alternative as well as energy efficient.

“We are really proud of this fantastic achievement”, says Managing Director of the Baxi’s UK Residential Boiler Division, Andrew Keating. “It is testament to the commitment and hard work of our teams in Preston and Lancashire, who have brought Baxi Ecogen, the first domestic appliance of its kind, to the UK marketplace. We believe it heralds the most important step-change for the home heating industry since the condensing boiler and will be a key factor in delivering a sustainable, low carbon future for the UK.”

Baxi was established in 1866 and has always been at the forefront of innovation. In 1966, it launched the Baxi Bermuda back boiler unit, which revolutionised home heating. More recently, in 2011, Baxi was the first boiler manufacturer to include a combustion management system in its boilers as standard, providing exceptional energy efficiency and cost savings for householders compared to a standard boiler.
