TRADITIONAL on the outside, bright and modern inside, Redrow’s New Heritage Collection will soon be available in Motherwell.

Inspired by the architecture of the Arts and Crafts movement, but with interiors styled for 21st century living, the properties are already proving popular with homebuyers across central Scotland. Redrow hopes to build on the success of the New Heritage Collection with the launch of Silver Birch Park in Motherwell later this month.

Mary McHutchison, sales manager for Redrow Homes, commented: “Research with customer focus groups tells us that the majority of house hunters want a conventional two-storey home, preferably detached, with an easily accessible garage and a garden of their own. They want something that looks traditional, perhaps evocative of the family home they grew up in, but they want it to have the latest statement-making kitchens and bathrooms. We’ve wrapped all that up in our New Heritage Collection and we’re confident that it will be as popular in Motherwell as it has been in other areas.”

Located off Craigneuk Street, close to the Ravenscraig development in the North Lanarkshire town, the first phase of homes at Silver Birch Park will offer a choice of three and four-bedroom properties.

Some of the external features which typify the Arts and Crafts era – and will be seen in varying degrees on the Motherwell homes – include dropped eaves, bay windows, timber or tiled canopies over doors and windows and the use of larch lap boarding.

Inside the homes will boast fashionable kitchens with the convenience of integrated top brand name appliances plus floor to ceiling units and extra wide drawers that offer plenty of storage. Bathrooms and en-suites will benefit from quality fixtures and fittings and an exclusive tile range.

With an individuality that makes them stand out from other new homes, these properties also compete strongly with the second hand sector, thanks to that combination of period-style features and modern, high specification interiors.

Redrow has calculated that it could cost up to £30,000 to bring an older, second hand property up to the same high standard of one its new homes.

“Buying a second hand property and renovating it yourself may sound appealing, but there’s lots of hard work and expense involved with little, if any, return for the time and money you invest. With a brand new Redrow home you can put your own stamp on the property from day one, choosing everything from the kitchen units and bathroom tiles and even the light switches. Plus you won’t have to worry about inheriting someone else’s decor or DIY disasters, but will enjoy the peace of mind of a 10-year ‘Buildmark’ warranty,” Mary added.

“Well insulated, with central heating and double glazing included as standard, new homes are also potentially cheaper to run than their older counterparts.”

A brand new show home and view home at Silver Birch Park are due to open in the spring.

In the meantime house hunters can explore the New Heritage Collection from wherever they access the internet thanks to the award-winning online television channel Redrow.TV.
