The Building Centre, London, will host the 2023 Focus on Framing seminar on 25 April, where experts from the light steel framing sector will take to the stage to offer an informative day of engaging presentations and discussions. Presented in partnership with the Light Steel Frame Association (LSFA), the representative body for forward-thinking companies in the sector, Focus on Framing is the only specialist event for the light steel market in the UK.

With this year’s speaker line-up recently announced, delegates can look forward to a packed agenda featuring award-winning case studies, ground-breaking projects, and an in-depth look at the key topics currently affecting the industry.

Mike Fairey, Chairman of the Light Steel Frame Association, will lead the seminar as event Chair, bringing his extensive knowledge and experience in offsite construction, engineering, and light steel solutions to the proceedings. Established as a leading voice in the industry through his work with the LSFA, Mike understands the challenges and opportunities those in the sector face.

Andrew Way, Associate Director of SCI (Steel Construction Institute), will take centre stage to begin the morning programme. SCI is a leading source of trusted, independent information and engineering expertise and provides technical and best-practice guidance to the construction sector. He will present a detailed talk on SCI technical updates, giving insight into upcoming changes and need-to-know information.

Further case studies will include a look at Holburne Park, presented by Simon Lovering of Fusion Steel Framing, a high-end £26 million residential development project in the heart of the World Heritage city of Bath. Successful delivery of the project led to judges naming Fusion Light Steel Framing as one of the finalists in the 2022 Offsite Construction Awards in the Best Use of Steel Category, alongside lead construction contractor BECT. Jaime Livingston, Associate Director of Corstophine and Wright, will also be presenting a case study on Becketwell, Derby, a year on from the project start, to talk about how light steel framing is providing benefits to this innovative regeneration project.

In the afternoon, Craig Johnson, Business Development Manager, Detailing and Manufacturing for Trimble, will join the speaker line up to present his talk; Connected Construction. With over 20 years of experience in the light steel industry, Craig has extensive knowledge of whole steel and precast manufacturing workflow.

Throughout the day, scheduled networking breaks will allow for engagement opportunities between delegates, speakers, and exhibitors over refreshments provided by The Building Centre’s onsite catering team. Located in London, within easy walking distance from Goodge Street station on the Northern Line, it provides the ideal venue, offering multiple parking options close to the building. The centre has a long history of showcasing innovation as a cultural and educational hub for the built environment.

As light steel framing is celebrated for being significantly more technically advanced than other material sectors, Focus on Framing provides an opportunity to gain insight and meet with forward-thinking professionals from across the business network. Delegates will also be able to learn about new systems and products via a dedicated exhibition area. As architects, engineers, specifiers, and developers look for ways to increase building safety performance and reduce environmental impact, Focus on Framing brings together a wealth of industry knowledge, support, and technical information to shape the future of the UK construction sector.
